Mary AllyeB Purtle is an accomplished performer as well as private instructor on all the woodwind instruments (i.e. oboe, flute, clarinet, bassoon, and saxophone). Her students have won various levels of the Music Teachers National Association Competition for the Southern USA Division and the South Carolina Division. For the past fifteen years Mary AllyeB's woodwind students have won first chair for all three age groups of the South Carolina All-State Bands and Orchestra, with her oboe students frequently as first chair in all three age levels at the same time. Her students have been featured soloists for broadcast performances of the Carolina Youth Symphony and Greenville County Youth Orchestra. Others have been soloists and accepted to programs at Interlochen, Brevard Music Center, Sewanee Music Festival, North Carolina School of The Arts, and other summer festivals. Many of her students have majored in music with full scholarships to places such as Vanderbuilt University and the Cleveland Institute of Music. Some are now playing professionally, such as the principal oboe in the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra and others who record professionally.

Presentations at North Greenville University, Greenville Music Teachers Association, and writting on woodwind doubling used at the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) presentation. Adjudication for events such at the (AACS) American Association of Christian Schools and (SCACS) South Carolina Association of Christian Schools festivals and the South Carolina Band Directors Association's Solo and Ensemble competitions and All-State auditions.

Transforming the audition process, seating, skills required, and repertoir that resulted in GCYO becoming known as a student group that's performances rival regional professional orchestras. Initiated the forming of a training orchestra with a complete wind section, resulting in two orchestras sharing the same vision of a professional experience for students learning standard orchestral music. Creator of three unique week long Vacation Bible School curriculums complete with music and professionally produced artwook and music CDs used by churches in the Southeastern USA. WAM (Word And Music) is a weekly program created for training children in reading music, correct vocal technique, and a love for singing and learning truths from the Bible and the Westminster Confession of Faith and related Catechisms. These programs were created based on over twenty years experience in children's ministry.
